Beat Making 101 is a perfect starting point for new DJs and aspiring music producers. These beginner DJ lessons teach students how to produce songs and make their own music — even if they’ve never played an instrument or used turntables before!

In Beat Making 101, we introduce students to BandLab for Education, an award-winning online program for student musicians. BandLab for Education’s beginner-friendly features make it easy to use, while giving students hands-on experience with music production software!

Our beginner DJ lessons are taught by expert instructors with experience as DJs and producers. Students will need a computer (Mac or PC) with Google Chrome installed to access BandLab for Education. Classes are offered in-person or online.

By the end of this 10-week class, students will have produced their first song! More importantly, students will have the basic tools they need to craft their own beats, create original music, and step into the producer’s booth!

DJ Lessons for Beginners

Beat Making 101 is a small, group class for beginner DJs and producers. Taught by pros from the local music industry, these classes are an ideal starting point for future hitmakers.

Our Beat Making 101 class is available in-person or online, so that students have the option of learning from home. We also adjust the curriculum for students with existing musical skills. This way, experienced students can build on their existing talents!

Our beginner DJ lessons teach up-and-coming artists how to craft their own beats, mixes, and remixes. Today’s DJs rely on music production software to unleash their creativity and find their voice as artists. Beat Making 101 offers a fun and easy way to build experience with the BandLab suite and make beats for the first time!

Step Into the Producer’s Booth

Beat Making 101 offers more than the chance to simply make your own beats and remixes. By mastering the basics of BandLab, students learn the fundamental skills they need as music producers. This gives students the chance to become accomplished songwriters or prepare for a career in music production.

After Beat Making 101, aspiring producers can enroll in our songwriting classes. In Songwriting 101, students learn the basics of song structure and music theory, allowing them to become accomplished artists in their own right.

Birthday parties at Bach to Rock give kids a chance to be rock stars for a day! With themes like Karaoke Birthday and Rock Birthday, partygoers get to perform and record songs by their favorite artists. We also offer birthday party packages for younger children and corporate teams!

Bach to Rock offers a wide range of music programs, including lessons for all ages and skill levels!

Our private lessons include programs for piano, guitar, bass, ukulele, drums, and voice, as well as brass, string, and woodwind instruments.

We also offer group classes — including beginner classes like Piano 101, Guitar 101, and Voice 101 — plus ensemble programs like Band and Glee Club.

Pricing for Bach to Rock music lessons depends on the type and duration of lesson. You can find up-to-date pricing and schedules for all of our programs through our online sign up system. Pricing may vary by location.

All Bach to Rock students must have access to their own instruments for at-home practice.

Bach to Rock is more than happy to advise parents and students on instrument purchases. We can recommend local stores that sell high-quality instruments for a reasonable price.

We also have wholesale contracts with instrument manufacturers and suppliers. This allows us to provide instruments at a discount to parents and students who purchase them from us.

A list of recommended instruments and accessories is available for all parents and students.

While students must have their own instruments for at-home practice, Bach to Rock will generally provide students with instruments for in-school lessons.

Drums, guitars, keyboards, and support equipment (such as amplifiers) will always be supplied by the school. This way, students don’t have to transport bulky equipment to and from lessons.

As students advance, they may feel more comfortable using their own instruments for lessons at Bach to Rock. Students are encouraged to bring their own instruments to school for lessons when possible.

Note that we do not provide wind or orchestral instruments such as clarinets, flutes, saxophones, or violins.

It's never too early to get kids started with music! At Bach to Rock, we encourage parents to start music classes early in childhood, so that kids can enjoy the developmental benefits of music education.

Our programs include Rock n Roll (ages 1-3), Rock City® (ages 3-5), Kids n Keys (ages 5-7), and Fun with Music (ages 6-7). Our early childhood classes help prepare students for private music lessons as they grow older.

We recommend starting private lessons at age 7. This is the age when most students are able to read sheet music — an important skill for private lessons.
