Bach to Rock Expands in Texas with Two New Franchise Agreements
Bach to Rock is continuing its nationwide growth with the signing of two new franchise agreements in Texas. The deals will bring new Bach to Rock schools to Plano and the greater Austin area, expanding access to the brand’s dynamic music programs while strengthening its presence in one of the fastest-growing states for youth enrichment opportunities.
Many school districts in Texas have faced reductions in music and arts funding. This has contributed to fewer resources and programming for students, with the state having cut music education support by about $32 million between 2011 and 2022, limiting opportunities for arts programs. With existing locations already serving students in Houston, Cypress, Cedar Park, Flower Mound and McKinney, the brand is excited to expand its presence and bring more communities across Texas access to music education, creative expression and performance opportunities.
“Texas continues to be a priority market for us as we expand access to our programs,” said Brian Gross, President of Bach to Rock. “Communities across the state are filled with families who value creative outlets for their children, and our schools provide a space where students can build confidence, develop musical skills, and connect with others through performance.”
One of the new franchisees, Shu Mookerjee, will bring Bach to Rock to Plano. After more than 25 years working at IBM across management, engineering, and sales roles, Shu was ready to pursue business ownership while staying connected to his passion for music and education. Drawn to Bach to Rock’s comprehensive music programs and supportive franchise system, he plans to open his first location in the coming months, with hopes of expanding further after establishing a successful school. Shu believes the school will fill an important need in the community as many traditional school music programs have been reduced. By providing a fun and accessible way for students to explore music, he hopes to help nurture the next generation of young musicians in the area.
In the Austin region, Dr. Rudra Murthy has signed an agreement to develop two Bach to Rock schools, beginning with a location serving the Leander, Georgetown, and Liberty Hill communities. With a professional background in cybersecurity and more than two decades of experience managing global teams and complex business operations, Rudra was drawn to the opportunity to combine entrepreneurship with community impact. He sees Bach to Rock as a destination where students can learn music in a collaborative, performance-driven environment while families connect through a shared creative experience. The first location is currently targeting a summer 2026 opening.
“We’re thrilled to welcome passionate franchise partners like Shu and Rudra, who understand the value of music education and community connection,” continued Gross. “Their leadership and vision will help bring our innovative programs to more students, providing opportunities to explore creativity, perform with peers, and develop skills that go beyond the classroom.”
