Start 2025 with Music: 101 Beginner Classes
Starting this January, Bach to Rock in Herndon, VA is offering a new round of 101 classes and Fun with Music programs designed to spark creativity and build strong musical foundations. Our 101 classes introduce beginners to the instrument of their choice in a supportive and engaging environment. This makes it easy for students to explore their musical interests and gain confidence. For younger children, Fun with Music offers an interactive and playful introduction to rhythm, melody, and movement, helping them discover the joy of music at an early age. Both programs are a great way to kick off the new year with learning, fun, and inspiration.

Guitar 101

A 10-week beginner course (45 minutes per session) designed for first-time guitar players to learn basic chords, strumming, tuning, and eventually perform simple songs in a supportive small-group environment. Students receive a mix of group instruction and individualized coaching to help build a solid musical foundation.
Beatmaking 101

A 10-week beginner DJ/production class, designed for students with no prior experience to learn how to produce music using BandLab for Education. The course is taught by professional DJs and producers and each class lasts 45 minutes. By the end of the program, students will have produced their first song and gained foundational skills for beat creation, remixing, and music production.
Piano 101

A ten-week beginner course (45 minutes per class) where students learn foundational skills like posture, five-finger technique, note reading, and basic music theory. The lessons are conducted in small group settings led by classically trained professionals. The program is designed to give students the confidence and skills to continue their piano journey in more advanced settings.
Voice 101

A 10-week class (45 minutes per session) offering beginner vocalists a structured, step-by-step approach to singing fundamentals. In a supportive group setting led by experienced, trained instructors, students learn posture, breathing, pitch control, tone, volume, music theory, and note reading. By the end of the program, each student will have had the opportunity to perform a song and build early confidence in their voice.
Drums 101

A 10-week beginner class (45 minutes per session) offered in a small group format for students ages 7 and up. Participants learn foundational drumming skills including kit setup, posture, grip, basic drum patterns (rudiments), tempo control, reading music, and song structure—all while building confidence in performance. The class also emphasizes playing with others and gives students the opportunity to perform their first songs under coaching.
Fun With Music

A ten-week program for ages 6-7 that gives hands-on exposure to piano, guitar, ukulele, drums, and singing in small, engaging classes. Students learn fundamentals like how to read music, parts of instruments, beginner playing techniques, and get to try out different instruments before choosing one.
