Georgia Regional B2R Battle of the Bands

On Saturday, April 30th 2022, the three Bach to Rock music schools in the state of Georgia competed head-to-head in the Georgia Regional B2R Battle of the Bands. The event was hosted by B2R Alpharetta and was presented at ‘The Green’ in Crabapple Market, Milton.

Each one of the 18 bands played a single song to showcase their Musical Ability, Stage Presence, Technical Ability, Creativity, Material, and Professionalism. Scoring these categories were three judges: Sam Chang, Trevor J. Waters, and Joshua Rosenkrantz, all of whom have professional music industry experience.

Three B2R Sandy Plains bands performed: The Pop Rocks, Echo, and 30 Watts.

THE POP ROCKS

The Pop Rocks

The Pop Rocks became a band in early 2021, being one of the first bands to form in the Sandy Plains location. The band’s energy is unmatched, always giving the most exciting performance for all audiences. On top of their energy, The Pop Rocks’ song choices are just as exciting! Their repertoire consists of Coldplay, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, The Go-Gos, and more! Finley is the drummer, who also rocks on backup vocals, Liel jams on electric guitar, and Ayan stars as the lead vocalist!

The Pop Rocks played in the second half of the Elementary Division, rocking out to the Joan Jett & The Blackhearts’ tune ‘I Love Rock ‘n Roll’. They were the runner-up in their division! Watch their performance here: https://youtu.be/MHzLgS2LEoE

ECHO

ECHO

Echo formed their band at the start of 2022. Although they are a relatively new band, their sound and connection with each other could pass as a band that’s been together for years. Echo’s repertoire consists of Fall Out Boy and BØRNS, with more songs in the works. Kat keeps the rhythm on drums and backup vocals, Kayla brings up the tune on bass guitar (and can also play the piano), and Chloe serenades the audience on lead vocals!

Echo played in the first half of the High School Division, showing the audience how pop/punk should be played with their rendition of Fall Out Boy’s ‘Sugar We’re Going Down’. Watch their performance here: https://youtu.be/orpU8Dk-qyw

30 WATTS

30 WATTS

30 Watts has been together for a year and has been quite active not only in our school, but around the community. They have played at the Battery, Marietta Square Market, and have even competed in Bach to Rock’s National Battle of the Bands (2021). With each rehearsal, they improve their technical skills, performance quality, and teamwork. 30 Watts began covering mid-2000s pop, but have expanded their repertoire with Disco, modern rock, and are in the process of creating their own music! Previously playing bass in ‘Pandemica Kuruption’, Daniel is 30 Watt’s keyboardist, Oren provides the beat with the drums, Frazier rocks out on bass guitar, Doron shreds on rhythm and lead guitar, and Helio brings the house down on lead vocals!

30 Watts closed the High School Division, getting everyone to sing and dance along to Bon Jovi’s ‘You Give Love A Bad Name’. They ended up winning their division, bringing home Bach to Rock Sandy Plains’ first gold trophy! Watch their performance here: https://youtu.be/GxFhmO5P_cc

The B2R Alpharetta Staff Band closed the show, playing several pop/rock covers while the judges tallied up their final scores. Once the winners were announced, 30 Watts was able to give an encore performance, which you can watch here: https://youtu.be/HRcRaCWf_eA

All of the Bach to Rock Georgia Locations gave incredible performances, and look forward to collaborating in the future for more events and giving students performance opportunities!
