Bach to Rock Music School Provides Social Connection to Thousands of Children through Virtual Music Lessons

All Schools Nationwide Have Transitioned to Remote Teaching During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Online Learning Music Lessons

Bach to Rock (B2R), America’s music school for students of all ages, in response to the COVID-19 outbreak, has transitioned all of its forty-two schools nationwide to remote music lessons. The coronavirus remains a public health crisis and Bach to Rock’s priority is the health, well-being and safety of its students, staff, and community. Currently, Bach to Rock has taught over 25,000 lessons online, connecting with over 5,000 students per week.

“It is our responsibility to protect our students and their families, our staff, and our communities during this incredibly challenging time. Virtual lessons are helping to maintain the learning, the camaraderie and the connections our students have with each other, and with their instructors,” said Brian Gross, President of Bach to Rock. “Remote lessons are an outlet for fun and creativity during a stressful situation and provide additional structure and familiarity for families and students,” continued Gross.

Over 300 families have shared positive feedback and have given high marks to their Bach to Rock schools about the transition. “Before he tried virtual band practice, my nine-year-old son insisted he didn’t want to do it. After his first session, he said he LOVED it. We are totally committed now. Learning music is always more fun with friends! And in these times, virtual band practice is a quality way to spend time with his peers,” Aiden’s mom, Bach to Rock, McLean, Virginia.

“We appreciate all that everyone at Bach to Rock has done to continue to provide lessons in these crazy times. I think that the online lesson program is good for the students to have since everything else seems turned upside down right now,” Julian’s mom, Bach to Rock, Bethesda, Maryland.

“Taran’s lesson via Zoom was great. Thank you! Having a little connectivity to a ‘normal’ schedule was lovely. Thank you again for providing this service to your students,” Taran’s mom, Bach to Rock, Northbrook, Illinois.

Lessons are available to all students who have access to a device capable of video communication and an instrument with which to practice at their residence. Students are continuing voice lessons as well as their private lessons on all instruments. Bach to Rock continues its popular band lessons virtually, along with its “Rock City” music classes for preschoolers aged 3-5, and its “Kids n Keys” beginning piano classes for children aged 5-7 in grades K-2. Beat Refinery DJ lessons continue only at those schools which currently offer that option. Bach to Rock is also hosting customized events in response to parents’ requests, such as virtual birthday parties and Wednesday Workshops on special topics.

“Bach to Rock franchises have been greatly impacted by the lockdowns and owners swiftly adapted their schools to remote learning,” said Gross. “We know it’s critical to keep our communities connected and our relationships strong. Our franchisees are community leaders and we are proud of how they are responding to this crisis with such agility to meet families’ needs.”

Teachers are hosting lessons using Zoom, a free video conferencing service, integrated with the MyB2R portal, that is easily installed on an iPad, iPhone, or other mobile device and is compatible with both Windows and Mac. MyB2R provides the ability to track student advancement, schedule lessons, obtain homework and stream over 300 pre-recorded songs to practice at home.

Families receive all the same features and benefits of in-school lessons, including Bach to Rock’s proprietary curriculum, access to the MyB2R student tracking portal and the wealth of knowledge and experience instructors have to offer.
