Meet Will: Battle of the Bands Winner Who Continues to Strive for Success

Twelve-year-old Will is a drummer who has been a Bach to Rock Wellesley student for just over two years, and recently he and his band won their school’s Battle of the Bands competition! That’s quite an accomplishment for a student whose first performance was at age 10. Will was up on stage performing only two weeks after he started taking lessons! Will said he was nervous about it, but since Bach to Rock gives students plenty of opportunities to perform, he “doesn’t have stage fright anymore!” So, it makes sense that his favorite memory from Bach to Rock is “the first day of playing with my band – it was awesome.”
“My teacher and band instructor, Tori, makes learning and playing fun. She is patient, kind and a great teacher. Tori gets our band excited to learn new songs and helps our band compose our own original songs,” said Will.
Will is driven to succeed and continues his private lessons and band sessions to keep sharpening his skills—with his sights set on one of his future goals: winning the next Battle of the Bands at his Bach to Rock school!
Bach to Rock helps kids develop their talents and build confidence at the same time. Students get to play the songs they love, and we encourage group practice and performance, which makes learning music more exciting and enjoyable. The result? Our students have more fun, learn more quickly, and gain confidence in their abilities as performers, just like Will!
